Agents choose tools and workflows for open-ended requests, while workflows connect nodes along a repeatable path; triggers, interfaces, and developer access are separate ways to start or share that work. It works best for operations, revenue, support, research, and IT teams that want business users to automate across connected apps without turning every process into a software project.
The core caveat is cost predictability. Agent conversations vary with model tokens, tools, compute, and orchestration, while workflow runs combine a base charge with the nodes that actually execute. The two meters share one organization credit pool and organization-wide concurrency limits, so a visually simple automation is not automatically cheap. Start with the self-serve trial and measure representative agents and workflows before committing. Use the standard subscription when shared teams, developer access, and published limits are sufficient; move to a sales-assisted agreement when rollover, queuing, custom capacity, private deployment, identity controls, auditability, or procurement must be contracted. For agent Chat & Reasoning and workflow AI nodes, supported BYOK calls shift model charges to the provider; the current Python SDK chat-completions documentation still states a 50%-of-standard-credit rule, so that SDK surface needs separate confirmation.

What is Gumloop used for?
Gumloop is a no-code platform for building AI agents and visual workflows that use connected apps, data, models, and custom tools. Agents choose what to do for open-ended tasks, while workflows execute a defined sequence of nodes.
How are Gumloop agents different from workflows?
Agents are conversational and adaptive: they decide which connected tools or workflows to use and when. Workflows follow a visual, repeatable path of connected nodes. Agents can call workflows, but their credit meters remain distinct.
Does Gumloop have a free plan?
No current renewing free plan is offered. Every new account starts with a one-time 14-day Pro trial that requires a card and becomes a paid subscription unless it is canceled before the trial ends. Legacy free accounts keep only their remaining balance without monthly renewal.
How do Gumloop credits work?
Gumloop states that one credit has a $0.005 list value. Agent chats vary with model tokens, successful tool calls, active compute, workflows, and an orchestration fee. A workflow run costs one base credit plus the costs of nodes that execute, so credits should not be translated into a fixed number of tasks or operations.
Are Gumloop's API and SDK billed separately?
Gumloop publishes no separate developer API tariff. Personal and team API keys are available on Pro and above, and REST API or SDK-triggered agents and workflows use the same organization credit pool and organization-wide concurrency limits as work started in the app.
What changes when a team brings its own model API key?
For agent Chat & Reasoning and workflow AI nodes on Pro and above, the central Credits documentation says supported BYOK model calls use zero Gumloop credits and the provider bills the key owner directly. Other platform charges remain; agent chats use 16% orchestration while workflows have no orchestration fee. The current Python SDK chat-completions documentation instead says BYOK uses 50% of standard credits, so that SDK surface must be budgeted and confirmed separately.
What does Gumloop Enterprise add?
Enterprise uses custom pricing and credit allocations, allows unused credits to roll over, defaults to higher customizable workflow and agent concurrency with queuing, and adds sales-assisted governance such as VPC deployment options, identity provisioning, custom roles, audit logs, model controls, data exports, and organization-wide connector policies.
