Microsoft 365 Copilot Plans and Limits: Personal, Family, Premium and Pro
Microsoft 365 Personal, Family and Premium include Copilot for the subscription owner, and Pro ($99.99 a month) has the highest usage. Compare prices, Copilot usage labels by feature and what replaced Copilot Pro.
Microsoft 365 Personal ($9.99 a month or $99.99 a year), Family ($12.99 or $129.99) and Premium ($19.99 or $199.99) all include Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote, but only for the subscription owner. Microsoft 365 Pro, at $99.99 a month, has the highest usage. Microsoft publishes usage labels such as "Standard" and "Extensive", not message or image counts, and Researcher, Analyst and Cowork need Premium or Pro. Copilot Pro is no longer sold, and Microsoft names Premium as its replacement.

The two Microsoft pages describe Personal and Family differently. The plan comparison page summarizes their overall Copilot usage as "higher than free", while the support article rates chat on every plan as "extensive". The real gap between the cheaper plans and Premium is in audio, images, voice and vision, plus the features only Premium and Pro include.
What the usage labels mean
Microsoft does not publish how many chats, images or voice minutes any label allows. It says some Copilot features have feature limits, a number of uses within a set period, while others draw on a monthly allotment of AI credits whose size it does not state. Limits can vary by feature, by where you start Copilot and by system load, and Microsoft says they may change as new models arrive.
You can see where you stand under Services & subscriptions in your Microsoft account, and Copilot shows a notice when you near or reach a limit. On Family, Premium and Pro, the other people on the plan get the apps and storage but not Copilot, because Microsoft keeps AI benefits with the subscription owner.
What happened to Copilot Pro
Microsoft's support page says Copilot Pro is no longer available for purchase. Existing subscribers could keep it until they cancelled or until support ended on August 1, 2026. For extensive Copilot usage after that, Microsoft points to Microsoft 365 Premium. Microsoft 365 Pro now sits above Premium, with the highest usage for voice and vision.
Which plan fits
- Personal for one person who wants Copilot inside the Office apps at standard levels for images, voice and vision.
- Family when other people need the apps and storage. Copilot stays with the owner.
- Premium when you need Researcher, Analyst or Cowork, or extensive image generation and Audio Overviews. It is also the plan Microsoft recommends to replace Copilot Pro.
- Pro only if you keep reaching Premium's voice or vision limits. It costs five times Premium's monthly price and adds 5 TB of storage, but the other features use the same "extensive" label as Premium.

FAQ
Common questions
Is Copilot Pro still available?
No. Microsoft says Copilot Pro is no longer available for purchase and that support for existing subscribers ended on August 1, 2026. Microsoft points people who want extensive Copilot usage to Microsoft 365 Premium.
What are the Copilot limits on Microsoft 365 Premium?
Microsoft lists them as usage levels, not numbers. Premium has extensive usage for chat, Audio Overviews, image generation, Researcher, Analyst and Cowork, and more usage for voice and vision. Microsoft does not publish the counts behind these labels.
What does Premium add over Microsoft 365 Personal for Copilot?
Premium raises Audio Overviews and image generation from standard to extensive usage, voice and vision from standard to more, and adds Researcher, Analyst and Cowork. It also covers up to six people with 2 TB of shared storage, though Copilot stays with the owner.
Can everyone on a Microsoft 365 Family plan use Copilot?
No. Microsoft says AI features on Family, Premium and Pro are available only to the subscription owner and cannot be shared. The other people on the plan get the apps, storage and security features.
How much is Microsoft 365 Pro and what does it add?
Microsoft lists Microsoft 365 Pro at $99.99 a month, with no annual price on its product page. It has the highest usage for voice and vision, the same extensive usage as Premium for other Copilot features, and 5 TB of shared storage for up to six people.
Where can I check my Copilot usage?
Microsoft says you can check your limits and AI credit status under Services & subscriptions in your Microsoft account, and Copilot notifies you when you approach or reach a limit. It does not publish the size of each allowance.
