In short
Use Meta Muse if you want a personal agent without paying or joining a waitlist: it is free with a usage limit in the US and Singapore, and it works in WhatsApp and on a Mac. Use ChatGPT Dots for ongoing project work if you pay for ChatGPT Pro (from $100 a month) or Business Premium; you can reach your dot in Slack, Microsoft Teams and, in a US beta, by text. Use Claude Duet if you are a US professional or small business owner on Claude Pro ($20 a month) or Max and can wait for an invitation: it is a research preview in its own iOS and Android app, and it spends your Claude limits.

The first four rows decide whether you can get each agent at all; the last four show how it works once you have it.
| Claude Duet | ChatGPT Dots | Meta Muse |
|---|---|---|---|
Plans that include it | Claude Pro and Max; not Free, Team or Enterprise yet | ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium; Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare as a beta an admin turns on | Free with a usage limit; Power and Maximum for more |

Regions | US only during the preview | Pro: outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK; Business Premium: supported ChatGPT regions | US and Singapore |
How access arrives | Waitlist, invitations in waves | Gradual rollout, no waitlist | Rolling out, no waitlist mentioned |
Where you message it | Duet app on iOS and Android; claude.ai on a computer | ChatGPT mobile and desktop apps, desktop browser, Slack, Teams; iMessage or RCS in a US Pro beta | Muse app on iOS, Android and Mac; muse.ai; WhatsApp |
Its computer | Cloud VM with a browser you cannot watch or take over | Cloud computer you can open and take over | Secure VM with a browser shared by you and Muse |
Usage meter | Claude's five-hour and weekly limits, at the same rate as chat | Chats with a dot don't count toward your ChatGPT usage limits; deeper work uses an allowance | Muse tokens a week: 500M on Power, 3B on Maximum |
How many agents | One ongoing thread, with topic channels that share memory | First dot included; more promised "in the future" | Meta does not say |
Read the "Where you message it" row with care: Duet connects to Slack as one of its apps, so it can read your Slack, but you message Duet itself only in its own app or on claude.ai. Dots is the only one of the three you can message from Slack, Teams or iMessage, and Muse the only one in WhatsApp.
Outside the US the choice narrows. Duet is US-only, Muse is announced only for the US and Singapore, and Dots on Pro excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Dots on Business Premium is offered in supported ChatGPT regions, subject to workspace eligibility; a Business workspace needs at least two Standard or Premium seats in total, and a Premium seat costs $100 a month billed annually or $125 billed monthly.
Claude Duet waitlist: what the form asks and who gets in
Join from the Claude Duet product page with "Join the waitlist". The form asks for your name, email address, Claude plan and phone type (iPhone or Android), with an optional note on what you do and what you would hand off first. Use the email address on your Claude account: Anthropic ties access to the address you give. Invitations go out in waves, joining guarantees no date, and Anthropic publishes no rule for who goes first beyond its launch scope, US Pro and Max subscribers. Using Duet takes all three: a Pro or Max plan, a US account and an invitation.
Once admitted, you get one full reset of both your five-hour and weekly Claude limits, usable until November 30, 2026. Duet is included with Pro and Max at no extra cost during the preview, and Anthropic says its features can change before the preview ends.
Claude Duet vs Muse: business accounts on a schedule, or tasks in a browser you share
Claude Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5, which you cannot change, and carries over your memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account. Anthropic aims it at professionals and small business owners: it lists more than 6,000 connectors and plugins, with QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, HubSpot and Shopify among the logos, and it can buy things for your business through Link or Shop Pay with a one-time card for each purchase. Each morning it sends a brief on what needs attention, then checks your accounts every few hours, so Anthropic warns that something urgent can arrive between checks. It does not call or text other people, and Anthropic says personal errands such as booking tickets are weaker. Anthropic's own pages disagree on Microsoft 365: the product page shows an Office 365 logo, while the support article says Microsoft 365 isn't available yet.
Meta pitches Muse to everyone, with a free tier. It answers questions, completes tasks, browses the web, makes purchases with a one-time card number, generates images and creates documents, and it keeps working in the background. You share its browser with it, where Duet's browser stays out of view. The Mac app can organize files, fill out forms and pull from Messages, Calendar and Notes with your permission. Meta also offers Muse for Small Business, a set of skills and connectors for owners.
ToolColumn's read: choose Duet when the work is your business's books, payments and inbox and you already pay for Claude in the US; choose Muse for personal tasks, for WhatsApp, or when Duet's waitlist or region keeps you out.
Dots vs Muse: ChatGPT, Codex and Slack, or WhatsApp and a Mac
A dot is an always-on agent inside ChatGPT, powered by GPT-6 Astra, that keeps making progress on ongoing work between conversations. It can start work in Codex and follow up on existing threads, set reminders and run recurring checks, and review your connected apps unprompted to form memories. You can open its cloud computer, take over and hand control back; access to your own computer is optional and starts turned off. The texting beta for US Pro users runs over iMessage or RCS through Linq, a third-party provider, sends proactive updates, and does not support group chats, calls or FaceTime. You can call your dot from the app, but it cannot call you, and it cannot have its own email address at launch.
ToolColumn's read: Dots fits if your projects already live in ChatGPT, Codex, Slack or Teams and you pay for Pro or Business Premium. At $100 a month or more against Muse's free tier, Dots is not the agent to buy only for errands; Muse is, as long as you are in the US or Singapore.
Duet spends Claude limits, Muse counts tokens, Dots usage terms are pending
- Claude Duet uses your plan's five-hour and weekly limits at the same rate as chat, and its background work, such as the morning brief and check-ins, counts too. Larger tasks like a financial model or a deck take more turns, so Anthropic warns you may reach your limits sooner than with chat alone. It publishes no Duet-specific behavior at the limit. Because Duet and your chats share one meter, a busy week for Duet leaves less Claude for everything else.
- ChatGPT Dots does not count conversations with your dot toward ChatGPT usage limits; deeper work draws on a separate allowance. OpenAI exempted dot usage from plan allowances for the month after the September 29 launch and said it would then share usage terms for each plan. OpenAI's help center and docs had not published those terms when ToolColumn checked on October 29, 2026, and they give no task count, no behavior at the limit and no price for extra dots.
- Meta Muse Free has a limit whose size and refresh Meta does not publish; at that limit you upgrade or wait. Power gives 500M Muse tokens a week for $20 a month and Maximum 3B for $100, with no top-ups listed. Meta says paid subscriptions are in limited testing and not available in all locations yet.
Grok Bot comes with The X Subscription, not these plans
Grok Bot, xAI's agent, comes with The X Subscription from the Premium tier at $30 a month rather than with any of the plans above; Grok Bot pricing and limits by plan covers its tiers, weekly pool and free trial.

FAQ
Common questions
What is Claude Duet?
A research preview of Claude that you message like a person, built for professionals and small business owners. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5, sends a morning brief, checks your connected accounts every few hours and works in its own cloud browser. It is included with Claude Pro and Max in the US at no extra cost, by waitlist.
How do I join the Claude Duet waitlist?
Select Join the waitlist on the Claude Duet product page and give your name, email, Claude plan and phone type (iPhone or Android). Use the email on your Claude account, because access is tied to it. Invitations go out in waves with no published date, and you need a Pro or Max plan and a US account to use Duet.
Is Meta Muse free?
Yes, with a usage limit Meta does not quantify. At the limit you wait for it to refresh or subscribe: Power at $20 a month for 500M Muse tokens a week, or Maximum at $100 for 3B. Meta says paid subscriptions are in limited testing and not available in all locations yet.
Does ChatGPT Plus include Dots?
No. OpenAI lists dots for Pro (from $100 a month, outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK) and Business Premium, with a beta for Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare that a workspace admin turns on. Free, Go and Plus are not listed.
Should I use Claude Duet or ChatGPT Dots?
Claude Duet if you are in the US on Claude Pro ($20 a month) or Max, want an agent that watches business accounts such as QuickBooks, Stripe or Gmail and sends a morning brief, and can wait for a waitlist invitation. ChatGPT Dots if you pay for ChatGPT Pro (from $100 a month) or Business Premium, work in ChatGPT, Codex, Slack or Teams, and want a cloud computer you can watch and take over. Duet spends your Claude limits; chats with a dot don't count toward your ChatGPT usage limits.
Which personal agent works in WhatsApp?
Meta Muse. ChatGPT Dots can be messaged in Slack and Microsoft Teams and texted through iMessage or RCS in a beta for US Pro users. Claude Duet works only in its own iOS and Android app and on claude.ai, and it does not text other people.
