Seedance 2.5 vs 2.0 vs Fast vs Mini: Which Model for Which Clip
Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini compared: clip length, resolution, references, draft mode, arena rankings and what a 5, 15 and 30-second clip costs on each on the BytePlus API.
UpdatedOctober 21, 2026
In short
Use Seedance 2.5 for clips longer than 15 seconds, 1080p in 10-bit color or shots that need more than 15 reference assets. Use Seedance 2.0 for 4K, or for 1080p clips of up to 15 seconds at about two-thirds of 2.5's price. Use 2.0 Mini for prompt tests and volume at 480p or 720p, and 2.0 Fast only when generation speed matters more than its higher price. All four generate audio. On the BytePlus API a 5-second 720p clip costs $1.16 on 2.5, $0.76 on 2.0, $0.60 on Fast and $0.38 on Mini, so 2.5 costs about three times Mini.

Seedance 2.5 doubles the length and more than triples the references
BytePlus's capability tables show where the four models actually differ; text-to-video, first and last-frame input, video editing, extension and audio output are the same on all of them.
| Seedance 2.5 | Seedance 2.0 | 2.0 Fast | 2.0 Mini |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Clip length per generation | 4 to 30 s | 4 to 15 s | 4 to 15 s | 4 to 15 s |
Highest resolution | 1080p, 10-bit | 4K, 10-bit | 720p | 720p |
Reference assets per request | 50 (30 images, 10 videos, 10 audio) | 15 (9, 3, 3) | 15 | 15 |
Audio-only reference | Yes | No | No | No |
480p draft before the final | Yes | No | No | No |
Output formats | MP4, MOV | MP4 | MP4 | MP4 |
Read the table as two different upgrades. Seedance 2.5 is the model for longer, reference-heavy work: a 30-second story in one take, a commercial built from a dozen product shots, a music video driven by an audio track alone. Seedance 2.0 keeps the only 4K output, which BytePlus pitches at film and HDR work, and its 4K requests have their own limits of 15 requests a minute and one at a time.
Arena voters prefer 2.5, narrowly
ByteDance describes Seedance 2.5 as smoother and more consistent than 2.0 but publishes no scores comparing them. The independent Artificial Analysis arenas, where voters pick between two clips with sound, rank both models (read on October 20, 2026):
Leaderboard | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance 2.0 |
|---|---|---|
Text-to-video with audio | 1159 Elo, 3rd | 1138 Elo, 8th |
Image-to-video with audio | 1138 Elo, 3rd | 1121 Elo, 7th |
A 21-point Elo gap means voters prefer 2.5 in about 53% of pairs (ToolColumn arithmetic), and the 95% confidence intervals of the two text-to-video scores overlap. The lead is small, and on text-to-video it sits inside the overlap of the two confidence intervals; the case for 2.5 rests more on length, references and draft mode than on a clip-for-clip quality jump. Neither leaderboard lists 2.0 Fast or 2.0 Mini.
What a 15 and a 30-second clip cost on each model
BytePlus prices Seedance in tokens that grow with clip length, so longer clips scale from its 5-second examples. As an illustration at 720p (ToolColumn arithmetic, 16:9, no video input):
Model | 5 seconds | 15 seconds | 30 seconds |
|---|---|---|---|
Seedance 2.5 | $1.16 | $3.47 | $6.94 in one take |
Seedance 2.0 | $0.76 | $2.28 | $4.56 for two 15-second takes |
2.0 Fast | $0.60 | $1.80 | $3.60 for two 15-second takes |
2.0 Mini | $0.38 | $1.14 | $2.28 for two 15-second takes |
The 30-second column is where the choice turns. A 2.0 model needs a second generation that extends the first, and an extension also bills the input video's length at the lower video-input rate, so its real price sits somewhat above the column and the join is a seam to manage. Seedance 2.5 makes the whole take at once.
Fast or Mini for drafts
BytePlus says the three 2.0 models share largely the same features and trade quality against speed and cost: Fast balances cost and speed, Mini gives the best cost performance. Mini costs less than Fast at both resolutions, $0.18 against $0.28 for a 5-second 480p clip. Pay for Fast only when waiting is the bottleneck. To preview a shot you will finish on Seedance 2.5, its own 480p draft ($0.514 for 5 seconds) keeps the same model, seed and settings for the final, which a Mini test cannot do.
Where each model is available
All four run on the BytePlus ModelArk API under the model IDs BytePlus lists for each. In apps, availability follows each app's plans: Dreamina's Standard, Advanced and Ultra cards advertise credit savings on Seedance 2.5 at 720p, CapCut Pro lists Seedance 2.5, and Higgsfield's $19 Starter plan includes only 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini. To try Seedance 2.5, ByteDance's page for it links the Dola app and the BytePlus Playground. What each route charges, and when Dreamina's credits beat the API, is on Seedance pricing.

FAQ
Common questions
Is Seedance 2.5 better than Seedance 2.0?
In Artificial Analysis's text-to-video arena with audio, Seedance 2.5 sits at 1159 Elo against 1138 for 2.0, a gap that means voters prefer it in about 53% of head-to-head pairs. It also generates clips twice as long and takes more references, but it costs about 1.5 times as much per clip at 720p.
Do all Seedance models generate audio?
Yes. BytePlus lists audio generation for Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini. Only 2.5 accepts an audio reference on its own; the 2.0 models need an image or video alongside it.
Which Seedance model supports 4K?
Only Seedance 2.0, in 10-bit color, for clips of up to 15 seconds. Seedance 2.5 stops at 1080p, and 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini stop at 720p.
What is the difference between Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini?
BytePlus says the 2.0 models share largely the same features and differ in quality, speed and cost: Fast balances cost and generation speed, Mini gives the best cost performance. Mini is cheaper, $0.38 against $0.60 for a 5-second 720p clip.
