Editorial guide

Guide

Start with the definition, terminology, and context that make the topic legible.

Short answer: The reviewed official Perplexity account, plan, app, and legal pages do not publish a stable number for how many devices or simultaneous sessions one consumer Pro account may use. That is not an unlimited-use promise. The useful boundary is identity: one person should sign in with the account that owns Pro, while sharing that account with another person violates Perplexity's stated rules.

Case

Official boundary

Practical decision

Ordinary personal multi-device use

Account identity and session state apply across supported web, iOS/Android, and Windows/Mac app surfaces; the reviewed pages publish no stable device or simultaneous-session number

Use the same registered account; do not assume feature parity, unlimited use, or separate quotas per device

Personal Computer

Newer app docs cover Windows and Mac; the current Mac setup says macOS 15+, while an older page says macOS 14+ and Mac-only

Verify the current installer and feature requirements; do not guess a Windows requirement

Computer

It requires an eligible active subscription and account credits; consumer Pro has no recurring monthly Computer allocation, and Ask does not consume those credits

Treat credits as a feature meter, not a device count

Enterprise-managed access

The cited MDM guide covers large-scale Comet deployment on macOS

Confirm the product, OS, seat, and policy instead of generalizing it to every Perplexity surface

Account sharing

Perplexity says sharing a login violates its Terms of Use boundary

Give each person an appropriate account or managed seat

Check the account before blaming a device limit

Perplexity's Account Settings guide separates the registered email, current subscription, and sign-in sessions. On a device where Pro works, note the exact email and login method. On the second device, use that same identity. This matters for Sign in with Apple users: a Hide My Email account may be registered to an Apple relay address, and Perplexity has a relay-email sign-in guide for using that address on Windows or Android.

The “Sign out of all sessions” control shows that Perplexity supports managing sessions across devices and browsers. It does not state a maximum. The current Pro and plan pages describe features and usage allowances but likewise publish no device count. Treat any limit message as account-specific evidence for support, not as a number that can safely be generalized.

Fix a second device that appears Free

Use Perplexity's missing-Pro checklist to establish account and payment status first:

  1. Open Account Settings on the working device and record the displayed email and subscription. Compare both on the affected device.
  2. Sign out of the affected surface and sign back in with the same method or registered email. If Apple Hide My Email was used, follow Perplexity's relay-email instructions rather than creating a new account.
  3. Check payment status under Manage Subscription. If the plan was bought through iOS or Android, Apple or Google owns that billing relationship; the purchase channel is not a device cap.
  4. If Pro still does not appear, use Perplexity Support. Clear cache and cookies or reset the app only after account identity and payment status are confirmed.

Do not buy a second subscription because the second device shows Free, and do not transfer the subscription merely to switch devices. Perplexity's dedicated transfer flow moves eligible web-billed consumer Pro or Max access to a different email and account; old-account data stays behind, and app-store subscriptions are not eligible. That is an account move, not a device-login fix.

Secure a lost or unfamiliar device

Use Account Settings > Sign out of all sessions when a device is lost or a browser session is unfamiliar. Perplexity says this logs the account out of every device and browser, so expect to authenticate again on each trusted surface. If you suspect unauthorized use, the consumer terms direct users to notify support. Account deletion is not the normal lost-device response.

Multiple devices owned by one subscriber are different from multiple people using one login. Perplexity's account-security help says sharing an account violates its Terms of Use and can risk suspension or termination. A household, colleague, or team should not treat an undisclosed device count as permission to share one consumer account. Managed organizational access belongs in assigned Enterprise access, not a shared Pro credential.

Keep feature-specific device rules separate

Ordinary Perplexity access, Personal Computer, and Computer answer different questions. The desktop-app documentation covers Windows and Mac; Windows local-file access requires Sandbox, while installed-app control is currently Mac-only. Those are feature and permission boundaries, not a Pro session cap.

For Personal Computer, the current Mac setup says macOS 15 or later, while an older Help Center page says macOS 14 or later and calls the feature Mac-only. Use the current setup requirement conservatively, verify the exact platform, and do not guess a Windows requirement. The fuller decision belongs in Perplexity Computer vs Personal Computer.

Computer is the cloud worker available on web desktop, iOS, and Android for eligible active subscriptions. Its credit rules are separate: consumer Pro has no recurring monthly Computer allocation, and Ask searches do not consume Computer credits. A new device does not create a promised new balance. Route search allowances to Perplexity Pro Search Limits, plan choice to Perplexity pricing, and app-versus-API budgets to Perplexity Pro, Max, Enterprise, and API pricing.

The cited enterprise MDM guide covers large-scale Comet deployment on macOS only; it establishes neither a consumer account cap nor all-product device management. If a limit notice appears, capture the exact message, surface, plan, and circumstances, then ask Perplexity Support for account-specific confirmation. Keep that response tied to the account and feature involved; it is not automatically a rule for every subscriber.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Perplexity publish a numeric Pro device or simultaneous-session limit?

No stable number appears in the reviewed official account, plan, app, and legal pages. Account Settings provides a control to sign out every device and browser, but it does not state a maximum. That absence is not an unlimited-use guarantee; ask Perplexity Support if your account shows a limit notice.

Why does my second device show Perplexity Free instead of Pro?

First compare the registered email and subscription shown in Account Settings on both devices, then check payment status under Manage Subscription. Sign in with the exact account that owns Pro; Apple Hide My Email users may need their relay address on Windows or Android. If Pro is still missing, contact Perplexity Support rather than buying again.

What should I do if a phone or computer signed into Perplexity is lost?

Use Sign out of all sessions in Account Settings. Perplexity says this logs the account out of every device and browser, so you will need to sign in again on trusted surfaces. Contact support if you suspect unauthorized account use; deleting the account is not the normal first response.

Can my family or coworkers share one Perplexity Pro account on different devices?

Perplexity's account-security help says account sharing violates its Terms of Use and can risk suspension or termination. An unpublished numeric device cap is not permission for multiple people to share one consumer login. Use separate accounts or the appropriate managed organization seats.

Do Personal Computer requirements apply to ordinary Perplexity Pro access?

No. Ordinary web and mobile access is not Mac-only. The newer desktop-app documentation covers Windows and Mac, while local capabilities have platform-specific rules. For Mac Personal Computer, the current setup page says macOS 15+, but an older help article still says macOS 14+ and Mac-only; verify the current feature-specific requirement.

Do Perplexity Computer credits determine how many devices can use Pro?

No. Computer eligibility and credits are separate from account session management. Perplexity says consumer Pro has no recurring monthly Computer allocation and that ordinary Ask searches do not consume Computer credits. A second device does not come with a promised additional credit balance.
