Guide

Start with the spend threshold and the conditions that change the pricing decision.

Kling AI credits are expiring account units for specific creation jobs, not a fixed number of videos or seconds. The practical choice is simple: use free access for occasional tests when the interface offers them; subscribe when you need a recurring pool plus member-only features; buy credits for an irregular burst when your required features are already entitled. Basic is listed with no monthly credits. The Credits Policy does not promise every user 66 free credits each day: login credits are subscriber event benefits, their amount is set by the interface, and they reset at 24:00. Budget attempts, not finished clips.

Count usable credits by expiry

The Kling Credits Policy defines several credit buckets. Regular membership subscription credits are distributed monthly and remain valid for one month from distribution. A 7-day membership grant lasts seven days. Purchased credits last two years. Promotional credits follow the event or interface rules. When several buckets exist, the balance with the shortest remaining validity is consumed first.

For plan allowances and prices, start with Kling AI pricing and verify the current offer at checkout. This guide focuses on what you can actually spend before expiry, not a second plan-price table. There is no general rollover promise; count only credits that will still be valid on the day you expect to generate.

Purchased and promotional credits remain available after membership ends, subject to their own expiry. Subscription credits retain their one-month expiry. Credits cannot be transferred between personal accounts or spaces, redeemed for cash, or converted into membership. This matters because fast-track generation, 1080p video, watermark removal, video extension and other listed functions are membership benefits; a purchased balance alone does not unlock them. Official sources identify fast-track as a member benefit but publish no guaranteed queue time or throughput.

Use the rate for the exact generation route

The VIDEO 3.0 model guide supports durations from 3 to 15 seconds and publishes these rates for the worksheet below. They apply to VIDEO 3.0, not every Kling model.

The official cost guide lists Basic with no monthly credits and separately documents native 4K at 30 credits per second for the VIDEO 3.0 series when that option is available. It is not a universal credit-to-second conversion. Do not transfer any row to O1, 2.6, Motion Control or another model or mode. Use the pre-submit generation panel as the final cost check. Kling says credits are deducted immediately and refunded if generation fails. A successful output that you simply do not want is not stated as refundable, so include those reruns in the budget.

Workload worksheet: budget attempts, not winners

Record five inputs: final clips per batch (N), batches per month (M), seconds per attempt (S), planned charged attempts per final clip (A), and the exact route rate (R). Then total only the balances that remain unexpired when the work will run (B). If a project mixes modes, calculate each mode separately and add the results.

ToolColumn worksheet assumption — required credits = N × M × S × A × R. The remaining shortfall = max(0, required credits minus usable, unexpired B). Do not count a system failure as lasting spend once its refund appears in your credit usage details, but do count unwanted successful attempts unless the live ledger shows otherwise.

ToolColumn assumption — 20 final five-second clips in one monthly batch, with three charged attempts per final and VIDEO 3.0 at 720p without Native Audio, require 20 × 1 × 5 × 3 × 6 = 1,800 credits. The same deliverables budgeted at one attempt each would use 600 credits, which shows why an output count without a rerun factor is misleading. This is editorial arithmetic, not a predicted success rate.

ToolColumn assumption — 12 final ten-second clips with two charged attempts each and VIDEO 3.0 Native Audio at 1080p require 12 × 1 × 10 × 2 × 12 = 2,880 credits. Enabling Voice Tone Control adds 12 × 1 × 10 × 2 × 2 = 480 credits, bringing the worksheet total to 3,360.

ToolColumn top-up cost illustration — if a 1,800-credit workload can use 660 unexpired subscription credits, the shortfall is 1,140 credits. At the policy reference of $1 for 66 purchased credits, that shortfall corresponds to about $17.27 before any checkout package, promotion, tax or payment-provider fee. This is not a guaranteed top-up offer or a valuation of subscription credits; compare it with the actual checkout price and the membership features the work requires.

Choose free access, a subscription, a top-up, or another route

  • Free access: best for sporadic evaluation that can stop when the interface offers no usable allowance. Basic has no published monthly credit pool, and promotional availability should not be treated as production capacity.
  • Subscription: the stronger fit for repeat monthly work that needs both recurring credits and membership entitlements such as fast-track or supported premium output features. The tradeoff is that subscription credits expire after one month.
  • Purchased credits: useful for an irregular burst because the policy gives them a two-year validity period. All users may purchase through Kling's official in-product flow, but a top-up cannot buy membership privileges. The $1-for-66 figure is a policy standard, while the payment page controls the actual package.
  • Another generation route: worth testing when the live rate, feature gate, or workflow makes the required attempt budget uneconomic. Rebuild the worksheet with that route's own billing unit instead of assuming credit systems are comparable.

The cited consumer policies do not promise unlimited generation after a balance is exhausted. Treat zero usable credits as a stop for a credit-charged route unless the live interface expressly displays a separate entitlement. Keep consumer Kling credits separate from API, enterprise, team or partner balances; these sources do not define a consumer-credit exchange relationship with those routes.

Final checks before paying

In the logged-in generation panel, record the selected model, mode, duration, resolution, audio setting, displayed credit cost, feature gate, credit expiry and account space. At checkout, check currency, region or app store, package size, fees, promotion and renewal price. Kling's paid-service terms document cancellation paths for Stripe web subscriptions, iOS and Google Play, but do not promise identical offers across platforms or regions.

Activated membership and credit services are generally non-refundable. Automatic renewal continues until cancelled; access normally runs to the end of the paid cycle, although the terms warn that some channels may process the next charge when cancellation occurs too close to renewal, including within one day. Cancel through the original payment channel and verify the result there. The sound decision is based on affordable attempts before expiry plus the required feature entitlements—not the lowest headline price.

FAQ

Common questions

Does every free Kling AI account receive 66 credits a day?

No fixed 66-credit daily grant is stated in the current official policy. The official VIDEO 3.0 credit guide lists Basic with no monthly credits. The Credits Policy describes daily login credits only for subscribers during interface-announced events, with a variable amount and a reset at 24:00. A promotion may still appear, so trust the logged-in balance and event rules.

Do monthly Kling subscription credits roll over?

Kling says regular membership subscription credits are valid for one month from distribution; 7-day membership credits last seven days. That is not a blanket rollover promise. Credits with the shortest remaining validity are consumed first, so check your credit usage details rather than treating every displayed credit as usable indefinitely.

Will purchased credits remain if I cancel Kling membership?

The Credits Policy says purchased and promotional credits are unaffected by membership status, subject to their own expiration. Purchased credits are valid for two years from distribution. Membership-only features do not follow the balance, and monthly subscription credits keep their one-month validity.

Does Kling refund credits when a generation fails or when I dislike the result?

Kling states that credits are deducted when generation starts and refunded if generation fails. The cited policy does not promise a refund for a technically successful output you do not want, so count successful reruns in the budget. Activated paid services and credits are generally non-refundable under the paid-service terms.

How many credits does a five-second Kling VIDEO 3.0 clip use?

ToolColumn arithmetic assumption using the official VIDEO 3.0 per-second rates: five seconds costs 30 credits at 720p without Native Audio or 40 at 1080p; with Native Audio it costs 45 or 60. Voice Tone Control adds 10 credits. These numbers apply to VIDEO 3.0, not every model, and the live panel should be checked before submitting.

Should I subscribe or buy Kling credits for a short project?

A subscription is the stronger route when you need a recurring pool and member-only rights such as fast-track generation or supported premium output features. Purchased credits fit irregular bursts because they last two years, but they cannot buy membership privileges. Compare the live checkout price, feature gate, expiry and expected attempt count; the policy rate alone is not a full break-even decision.
