Lovable Credits Explained: What a Credit Buys on Pro and Business
What one Lovable credit pays for, what a build request costs, the free daily and monthly grants, why a Business credit costs about twice a Pro credit, and when unused credits expire.
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026
In short
A Lovable credit is one balance for building, chatting, hosting and the AI features inside your app. In Build mode a request costs what its work costs: Lovable's examples run from 0.50 credits to gray out a button to about 2 for a landing page with images, and a Plan mode message costs 1. Pro sells 100 credits a month for $25 and Business 100 for $50, with tiers up to 10,000. Both add 5 free build credits a day and, for now, monthly Cloud and AI grants. On monthly billing, unused plan credits roll over and expire two months after they arrive.

Up to 5,000 credits, a Business credit costs twice a Pro credit
Both plans sell the same tiers of monthly credits. Dividing each listed monthly price by its credits gives the price of one credit. This is ToolColumn arithmetic from Lovable's pricing page on October 20, 2026.
Credits a month | Pro | Per Pro credit | Business | Per Business credit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
100 | $25 | $0.25 | $50 | $0.50 |
400 | $100 | $0.25 | $200 | $0.50 |
1,200 | $294 | $0.245 | $588 | $0.49 |
5,000 | $1,125 | $0.225 | $2,250 | $0.45 |
10,000 | $2,250 | $0.225 | $4,300 | $0.43 |
Up to 5,000 credits a Business credit costs exactly twice a Pro credit, and the gap narrows only slightly above that. Volume discounts are small: the largest Pro tier brings a credit from $0.25 to $0.225. Annual billing does more, since two months free puts a Pro 100 credit at about $0.21. Top-ups cost more than any tier: $0.30 a credit on Pro and $0.60 on Business.
Lovable says hosting and app AI features cost the same in dollars on both plans, so Business deducts fewer credits for that usage. It makes no such statement for building, and its pricing page notes that credits are not necessarily equal in value across plans.
What one build request costs
Request (Lovable's examples) | Credits |
|---|---|
Make the button gray | 0.50 |
Remove the footer | 0.90 |
Add authentication | 1.20 |
Build a landing page with images | about 2 |
Read the table as a scale, not a price list: a Build mode request is charged for the work it ends up doing, so larger features, multi-step changes, browser checks and generated images cost more. Plan mode costs 1 credit a message, plus any research it runs. A request you stop is charged for the work done so far, and one stopped before any change costs nothing. Lovable pauses a long message for confirmation each time it passes 20 credits by default, and a message set as a goal with /goal costs noticeably more.
As an illustration, a session of 30 small edits at about 0.5 to 0.9 credits plus 10 Plan mode messages uses roughly 25 to 37 credits, 25 to 37% of a Pro 100 month before the free daily build credits are counted.
Free credits are spent first
Before touching plan credits, Lovable spends grants that each cover one kind of usage:
- Daily build credits: 5 a day, reset at 00:00 UTC. Free stops at 30 a month; Pro and Business have no monthly cap, which adds about 150 build credits a month (5 × 30 days, ToolColumn arithmetic), though some regional plans cap them at 30.
- Daily chat allowance: covers Chats and Chat mode, larger on paid plans. Lovable says this chat pricing applies through October 31, 2026.
- Monthly grants: 20 Cloud credits, 4 for AI features in your app and 1 for managed connectors, refreshed each billing cycle on paid plans. Lovable calls these grants a temporary offering.
None of the grants rolls over. After them, Lovable spends the general credits closest to expiry first.
Hosting and app AI draw on the same balance
A published app's database, storage, network traffic, background code and realtime updates are Cloud usage. Lovable says the monthly Cloud grant covers most small or new apps; an app with significant traffic or data starts drawing on plan credits. AI features your app offers its users are charged by the underlying model's cost per call. Both appear as Run credits in the usage view, separate from Build credits, but they come out of the same balance, so a popular app can use up credits you meant for building.
Monthly-billing credits expire two months after issue
Unused monthly plan credits roll over while the subscription is active. On monthly billing each batch expires two months after it was issued. Annual billing still issues credits monthly, and they stay valid until one month after the annual period ends. Top-up credits last 12 months. After a cancellation, credits stay usable until the end of the paid period; unused paid credits come back if you subscribe again before they expire. Credits are not refundable.

FAQ
Common questions
Do Lovable credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits do, while you stay subscribed: unused Pro and Business credits carry into the next cycle and expire two months after they were issued, or one month after the annual period ends on annual billing. Daily build credits and the monthly grants do not roll over.
What happens when my Lovable credits run out?
A message Lovable is working on pauses when the workspace balance reaches zero. You can add credits with a top-up and resume, or have Lovable wrap up. Top-ups cost $15 per 50 credits on Pro and $30 per 50 on Business.
Does chatting with Lovable use credits?
Chats and Chat mode first use a free daily chat allowance, then daily build credits, then plan credits. Lovable says this chat pricing applies through October 31, 2026; Build mode and Plan mode follow standard pricing and are not part of that temporary offer.
Is a Lovable Business credit worth more than a Pro credit?
It costs more: $0.50 against $0.25 at the 100-credit tier. Lovable says hosting and AI features in your app cost the same in dollars on both plans, so Business deducts fewer credits for that usage; it does not say the same for building.
How many credits does a Lovable app need to stay online?
For most small or new apps, none beyond the included monthly Cloud grant of 20 credits, according to Lovable, which calls the grant a temporary offering. Apps with significant traffic or data start drawing on the plan's credits for database, storage, network and compute use.
